A Practical Approach to Network Security
Jointly organized with the Department of IT, Government of India

Online Registration Closed
Course Objective

Information Technology (IT) has become the nerve centre for today's commerce transactions, Government functioning, manufacturing, law & order, high-end research and other strategically important areas such as space and military. Moreover the strategic and private value of the information flowing through the computer networks of any organization makes it very important to see that this information is not stolen, tampered or open to unauthorized access. The security of the information and the information resources cannot be entrusted to the technology alone. We need to reach a hybrid solution integrated with the human and technology factor. Most of the breaches occur because of a lack of awareness of the user and ignorance of security mechanisms and policies.

Most of the security breaches can be averted if we can configure our networks and systems with the basic security mechanisms that are built into the software and hardware components such as operating system, web server, router and so on. Lack of awareness of these built in security mechanisms or negligence in configuring results in a weak cyber infrastructure prone to vicious attacks. In view of the above C-DAC planned a 5-day training programme for system administrators to configure their systems with adequate security. The course was designed to focus on both the conceptual and the practical aspects of the security features which were being organized as part of the Department of Information Technology, Government of India supported project in Network Security.
