Towards Securing End Systems in the Networked World – Challenges and Possible Solutions

About C-DAC, Hyderabad

C-DAC, Hyderabad is involved in R&D areas like Network Security, Embedded Systems, e-Learning, Grid Computing and Supply Chain Management. The Network Security team at C-DAC, Hyderabad has developed a solution named as ENSAFE – End System Suraksha Framework, through a funded project from the Department of Information Technology (DeitY), Government of India. This solution provides end-to-end security for all TCP based applications. ENSAFE is implemented for both Windows and Linux environments. The team is currently engaged in the implementation of an end system security solution for UDP applications.  The centre has set up a Network Security Concept Lab and a 1-week training programme on “e-Suraksha – A Practical Approach in Network Security” is offered at regular intervals using this infrastructure. Recently, the centre has also started offering an online course on “Certificate Course on Cyber Security” in the e-Learning mode

About the Workshop

C-DAC, Hyderabad has a tradition of organizing workshops and seminars on cutting-edge technologies in Electronics and Information Technology. This one-day workshop is an effort to generate awareness and exposure towards securing end systems. This workshop is being jointly organized by C-DAC, Hyderabad and the DeitY, MC&IT, Government of India.

Workshop Theme

Cyber security surveys in recent times have shown that there is an increase in insider attacks and are generally launched from within organizations. New technologies have also opened the door to an increasing number of security threats. With the increase in attacks from “inside” and the increasing security requirements of organizations, it is becoming crucial to look for End System Security Solutions that provide end-to-end security. End System Security Solutions address the various security issues encompassing the entire path from the initiating process to the responding process. The workshop will mainly focus on emerging trends in securing networks and end systems, various security issues related to unicast and multicast/broadcast network applications, transparent encryption and integrity features for network communication, issues related to authentication and significance of machine signature for authenticating an end system & pluggable authentication mechanism for user authentication, enforcement of centrally managed security policies and Role based Network Access Control System.

Participants/Audience

The workshop would benefit personnel from user agencies such as defence, banking, police, state and central Government agencies, academia and also the industry providing secured network solutions and consultancy
